We sat down with one of our newest providers, Jessica Nichols, APRN, to get to know her a little better. Jessica has worked at Children’s Campus since March and sees many of Vibrant Health’s pediatric patients.
Tell us about your career before making your way to Vibrant Health.
I got my bachelor’s degree from University of Missouri, Master’s degree from University of Kansas and my doctorate degree from Duke University. I spent time at Children’s Mercy working with kids with complex medical conditions, and I worked at walk-in urgent care clinics for both adults and kids. I’m also currently assistant faculty for the KU School of Nursing.
What do you love about working at Vibrant Health?
I love my patients and I love that we provide vital healthcare that is close to home. The staff is wonderful and I feel as though we really make a difference. I really enjoy having the opportunity to work with our refugee patients. Being one of the first health care providers they meet, and giving them the opportunity to start a medical home with Vibrant Health is incredibly important to me. The U.S. health care system can be difficult to navigate, so it’s really important for us to provide excellent service and quality care.
Tell us about your family.
I am married with three kids; twin daughters who are 12 and a son who is four. I also have three dogs, two Labrador Retrievers and one German Shepherd. I am a big dog-lover. Actually, as a kid, I wanted to be a veterinarian.
When you aren’t at work, how do you enjoy spending your time?
Our family loves to spend time outside, whether it’s taking walks, biking or watching my kids play sports.
What is your favorite movie?
I would say anything in the Harry Potter series.
